Welcome to CARE Hub

A place to communicate and collaborate on what’s important in community mental health.

The CARE Hub acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and the Torres Strait Islands. We recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We acknowledge that these lands have been materially, ecologically and socially transformed through occupation by settlers and we acknowledge that this transformation does not erase history, sovereignty or continuing connections to culture. We acknowledge the work undertaken by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for health and justice. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders who came before, those that lead now and those who will lead in the future.

About Us

The Collaborative and Responsive Engagement (CARE) Hub is an online communication Hub for community mental health and wellbeing. We believe we are stronger when we work together, and so the Hub is open to anyone connected to the community mental health sector, whether through lived experience, work or study. First and foremost, we are people so there is no hierarchy, qualification or life experience that makes any member of the group more or less.

We believe that by bringing people together we will learn from each other, and this increased connection can only be of benefit to community mental health.

What the CARE Hub is and isn't

The CARE Hub is:
  • A shared space for members to communicate on various topics related to mental health and wellbeing, and explore opportunities for collaboration including practice groups, working groups and scenario planning.
  • A forum for members to draw on the collective wisdom of the community, ask questions, start conversations.
  • A source of reliable information, tools and frameworks.
  • A way to provide recommendations on areas requiring systemic advocacy for the community mental health sector.
The CARE Hub is not:
  • A forum for service reviews, complaints or dispute management
  • A therapeutic group
  • A forum for individual advocacy
  • A crisis, referral or helpline service

If you would like online support, click here to access the SANE forums (hosted by MIFWA), a peer to peer support service that is moderated 24/7 by health professionals.

If you or someone you know is in crisis and needs urgent help please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or click here to access the Suicide Call Back Service.

Our shared community guidelines

We are a community of people interested in the practice, importance and benefit of consumer, carer and community engagement in the community mental health sector.

As a community we value everyone’s contributions to the work of the Hub. We want this community to be a safe place which encourages interaction, and one where all viewpoints can be expressed.

To that end, our community guidelines are here to keep the platform a safe place.

Members of the Hub have a shared commitment to supporting people who are often vulnerable, stigmatised and who may have experienced trauma. We aim to ensure communication on the Hub is always:

SAFE

We are mindful of other people’s experiences and emotional reactions. To that end we share sensitively and avoid going into detail. Please include warnings where appropriate on content that is shared.

RESPECTFUL

We encourage discussion and understand that Hub members will have different opinions. We express our views in a respectful way and avoid any language which may put down, disrespect or harm others. We can agree to disagree.

INCLUSIVE

We strive to use language that is respectful, inclusive and clear. We are committed to providing a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all people, regardless of ethnicity, faith, disability, sexuality or gender identity.

However, we are all human, and if you notice that someone slips up, please let them know gently and confidentially but avoid shaming tones or language. Also, we each take responsibility for supporting others to maintain these guidelines. If you see something which you believe is in breach of these guidelines, please know that you can email us at [email protected].

We understand that any breaches will most likely be unintentional, and the moderators will contact that person and support them to follow the community guidelines.

The moderators may need to remove someone from the community as a last resort if they feel that someone continues to communicate and interact in a way that detracts from the purpose of the community.
